About Torin
Hi, I’m Torin, a Computer Science graduate from the University of Nottingham. I’ve always enjoyed understanding how technology works and, more importantly, helping other people understand it too.
Having graduated recently, I still remember what it is like to sit exams, revise difficult topics and come across subjects that simply do not seem to click at first. I know that feeling of looking at a question and thinking, “Where am I even supposed to start?” That experience influences the way I teach. I want my students to understand the subject properly, while also knowing how to approach exams with confidence.
Alongside my degree, I gained practical experience in cyber security with the National Crime Agency and through the CyberFirst Bursary Scheme, where I received professional training across programming, networking, ethical hacking and other areas of Computer Science. I have also previously tutored GCSE Computer Science students, with most of the students I worked with improving by at least two grades.
I enjoy tutoring because there is nothing better than seeing a student go from finding a topic confusing to suddenly having that “click” moment. I aim to be patient, approachable and professional, and to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning at their own pace.

I specialise in GCSE and A Level Computer Science, particularly helping students who are struggling to understand difficult topics or lack confidence in the subject.
My lessons are interactive and tailored to each student. I first identify what they understand and where the gaps are, then break difficult concepts into simpler ideas and work through questions together. I avoid simply talking at students; instead, I regularly ask them to explain concepts back to me and apply what they've learnt, which helps build genuine understanding and exam confidence.
I have a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Nottingham (2:1), as well as professional experience in cyber security through the National Crime Agency and the CyberFirst Bursary Scheme. This gives me a strong understanding of both the academic and practical side of Computer Science.
I have also tutored GCSE Computer Science students in the past, particularly those who were struggling with the subject. I worked with students to identify their weaker areas, explain topics in ways that made sense to them and build their confidence with exam questions. Most of the students I tutored improved by at least two grades.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, and I can support students with GCSE and A Level content, programming, algorithms, theory and exam preparation.
