About Moumita

I am basically a classical singer. I have completed 6th year exam of indian classical music with distinction. I also sing bollywood movie songs, retro songs, and being a bengali, obviously rabindra sangeet. So, why are you waiting? Start following your dream with me.

About the lesson

The basic of singing is sargam. So firstly, I make the student's voice tuned with the "saptak" s, that are, sa re ga ma pa dha ni. Then I give them several palta, variations and many more sargams to make their voice quality better. Then I start giving them " Raga" s and sargams of that ragas. A raga takes a few classes to be completed along with perfect sargam tuning. After that, I give the students some bollywood songs to increase their interest of singing, and the song must be related to that particular "raga". And everyday after the class, I send my voice recording about all the stuffs they learnt on that day. This is too much effective in their practice and improvement.
In case of western classical music training, vocal training is the most important part. Because western classical music requires an open voice at high pitch. So I take regular sessions of vocal training first then start teaching the songs.
Most preferably I target to open up the student's own voice first then he/she enjoys the singing classes most. In fact they start practicing at home in a regular basis.
And obviously I try to behave like a dear friend with my student so that they can learn singing properly without any fear or shame. Actually every student, may be of any age group, when starts taking lessons, are not that much free in singing openly. So that they can open out the voice of their own and enjoy singing.
