About Akos

SUMMARY: Freelance Hungarian teacher, translator, drummer, traveler, folk dance lover, Founder of Education & Language Nomads.
My name is Ákos and I've been teaching this beautiful but challenging language for more than 8 years online and in the classroom. I have obtained my MA degree at the University of Szeged in the Hungarian as a Second Language program (where I'm currently also teaching part time). I can say that teaching has become my work and passion, and I’m very grateful that I can do what I love. I offer you relaxed and enjoyable classes carried out in a professional way always tailored to YOUR needs. I can help you with preparing for Hungarian citizenship interview, and for the Cultural Exam, too. According to my students I am an easy-going and patient teacher, who speaks slowly and explains clearly.

About the class

Every student is different, so what we'll do first is that we discuss Your goals and interests, so I can design the lessons accordingly. I think that establishing a relaxed atmosphere is very important, so you can feel safe to step out of your comfort zone to make the necessary mistakes for learning.
After considering your learning style, for each time I'll make you a creative and playful lesson with materials for and after the class, such as writing and grammar exercises, flashcards, and other fun online or AI learning tools which will give you the chance to acquire (internalize) and revise the new knowledge.
However, during the classes the main focus will be on improving your communication skills because that’s where I can help you the most, and also that’s the source of your confidence and motivation.
With me you will not only learn to speak confidently, but will be able to understand the bits of Hungarian culture and history. But if you happen to be a grammar nerd, I think I can help you as well.

I'm very satisfied with Ákos's lessons. He is very friendly, patient and organized. He prepares his lessons and offers extra material for further practice. He also regularly asks me about my goals and whether I'd like to focus on something in particular. He will provide everything you need to make progress in learning Hungarian.

I have had Hungarian classes with Ákos for over two years now, and continuing. He always brings topics that interest me and chooses the exercises very well — just a bit above my level, but not too much, so it's neither frustrating nor too easy or repetitive. I wasn't a total beginner when we started, but with Ákos I finally reached what I hadn't reached in the previous seven years: conversational level. Still a lot of room for improvement, but that's why I continue having classes with him every week.
