I had the pleasure of being taught by Darya, an exceptional French tutor who made a complex language feel accessible and manageable. Her deep knowledge and thoughtfully structured coursework guided us clearly through essential grammar and vocabulary. She has a remarkable ability to distill difficult concepts into simple, achievable lessons, and she consistently goes above and beyond to share her genuine love of languages with her students. I have had Darya as my French teacher in years 10-12. French was just about everybody's favourite subject because it was fun, dynamic and relaxed. But we especially appreciated that Darya used her thorough knowledge of QCAA assessments to prepare us for great results without ever giving us the feeling that we were learning just to pass exams. She picked up on our individual weaknesses and devised ways to overcome them without ever making us feel judged. She was endlessly encouraging in her coaching

Darya is an exceptional teacher, her classes are interesting as she does not teach straight from a text book.
Darya’s lessons involve compréhension, vocabulary that is practised in small break out groups.
As Darya is a native French speaker this added a lot when she was teaching me because French culture was part of her background and I learnt a lot and became more confident when speaking french.

Darya or Madame Gunn as I knew her taught me French from Year 7 to Year 12 and she honestly had the most profoundly positive impact on my high school years and in fact my life in general! She is one of those teachers I will never forget. Darya is so passionate about language learning (she speaks 11 languages herself) and this passion came through in every single lesson at school. She was so creative and came up with amazing resources for us to use and games for us to play every lesson. French was the subject I looked forward to most at school. Aside from making the lessons so much fun and engaging, I learnt so much with Madame Gunn and felt really proud and confident of my French level after leaving school. She somehow even managed to find ways of making grammar lessons fun! She is an incredible teacher who taught me so much about the love of language learning and about the world outside of our school bubble. Darya is a magnificent French Teacher that i would strongly recommend to anyone wanting to learn this beautiful language. She is highly skilled and really understands how to best tailor the learning material and the type of lessons based on the student's knowledge and abilities.

I can’t speak highly enough of Darya. Her love for all languages truly shines through in every lesson, and it makes such a difference as a student. She has a wonderful way of turning even the trickiest parts of learning French into something fun and approachable, and her enthusiasm is genuinely contagious. Darya is the most amazing french teacher I’ve had! My french language adventure started when I was 18 and enrolled in a French summer short course where I was lucky enough to meet Darya. Life got busy and I touched in and out of studying language over the next decade but never found a teacher as skilled, passionate, and as fun as Darya makes learning a language. I eventually reached back out to the school I started learning French with 13 years later and amazingly Darya was still teaching there! In the year I re-commenced learning with Darya I now feel confident in both reading and writing in French and even braved a solo trip to Paris to test out my skills! She is truly the most patient, talented, and passionate language teacher I’ve had the privilege to learn with. She makes all her own learning materials and hand-tailors material based on what you request as well. She has an amazing knack of getting the balance of both practice and solidification of concepts paired with progression to keep you engaged in a way that can only come with a lifetime of teaching experience. She is a one in a million find.
