About Tarek
I am a medical graduate, I’ve worked as a medical doctor for over 12 years initially in general medicine and then psychiatry before moving into complementary care. I have taught Arabic as a foreign language for 5 years and i currently practise as a holistic practitioner and i apply Arabic language tuition as an add-on modality to use as a coping mechanism for stress and anxiety, this is a new application of language as a neurolinguistic modality.

. You can use foreige language as a coping mechanism similar to other coping strategies like playing or listening to music or reading.
.Arabic is very suitable for this purpose as it’s quite different to Indo-European languages, hence it’s more challenging
. Learning a new language helps us relax and focus in the moment allowing us to sink into ourselves and feel good and connected, also thinking in a non-native language is a great way to enhance our cognitive abilities and shift our attention from ongoing intrusive thoughts and worries and focus in the moment as the learning process requires attention and presence.
.The process of learning a new language is very rewarding (mediated by Dopamine) it gives us a great sense of achievement, especially when we start to use the add-on language in real life scenarios, which boosts our self-esteem.
