About Thea
I am an Exeter University postgraduate (Geography BA) looking for some work as a tutor from the 4th May - 3rd June. I am taking a year off before I start my Accounting job at EY in September. I have done a lot of tutoring and teaching this year and want to continue. I’ve tutored GCSE Maths and am currently helping a boy prepare for his +13 exams. I am a very logical learner and have had great results imparting knowledge on individuals who find it difficult to revise effectively. I am passionate about sharing my tips and tricks and enjoy finding ways to help people get the most out of themselves.

What I have found most effective with previous tutoring is a pass paper based approach. Individuals often want to focus on what they are good at but I think it’s important to first identify areas for improvement by testing the whole syllabus. After setting a pass paper I will mark it outside of the session and compile exercises for areas of concern. During the session we will go through mistakes explaining improvements and I will then set specific exercises and then another pass paper for the next session. For more essay based subjects e.g. English GCSE, Geography and Psychology, essays will be set. For these subjects I find results to be best when the candidate is first taught how to revise these certain subjects effectively. The use of mine maps, word banks and testing repetition are crucial to achieve higher band marks.
