My Teaching Approach and Lesson Structure
My teaching approach is centered on creating a supportive, engaging, and personalized learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new concepts, and learning from their mistakes. I adapt my teaching methods to each student's individual needs, learning style, and goals, using clear explanations, practical examples, guided practice, and active discussion to make challenging material more accessible and easier to understand.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material to reinforce understanding and identify any areas that need additional attention. We would then address what needs more attention based on the review, and then introduce a new concept. I also like to encourage a collaborative environment where my student should communicate to me their interests and/or needs in their musical development and we can work on those skills together.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my commitment to patience, adaptability, and genuine student progress. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, I focus on identifying the root of each student's difficulties and building their confidence alongside their knowledge. My main goal is to continue the education and spread of jazz music so for the sake of my own art form I dedicate myself fully to the progression of my students.

I met Breck in high school and already as a high school student, I would categorize Breck as one of the many professionals in this field. His commitment to make a student understand and put the taught elements to use is one of the things I appreciate the most in his teaching. After working with him for a little bit over 4 years in a jazz band, this is the first person that comes to mind when I hear that a musician needs help in technique, style, and music theory overall, as he will, guaranteed, help a student advance.
Breck’s dedication to teaching studios is world class. He caters heavily to each student and focuses greatly on minute details. He’s helped get my musicianship and trumpet playing to the next level.
