• Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

  My first experience with a computer was back in 2000. As a young child I was fascinated with a box that I could command to do things for me! I remember spending hours on MS Paint trying to recreate corners of my room and now years later, I get to follow my passion for a living (and remodel my room more accurately)!

• What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

  I believe that Building Information Modelling (BIM) has allowed us to capture a greater dimension of complexity and design smarter structures that can respond to their context much more organically. Now with AI, we may be able to further streamline our workflows.

• Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

  As a Designer, I take pride in being able to use technology to mould the world around me to serve the greater community. As an Architect, I can use softwares such as Revit to complete complex documentations and analyze & juggle multiple variables in hours instead of days, thus improving efficiency and saving valuable time.

• Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

  Absolutely! As an Architect, I personally take inspiration from Louis Sullivan, Glenn Murcutt & Harry Seidler. I'm also fascinated with Louis Kahn's work - how he manipulated light to serve his designs never ceases to amaze me.

• What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

  All journeys begin with a single step.

• What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

  I quite enjoy hand sketching - landscapes around me, ruins in particular, catch my attention wherever I go.
