I am a musician who just finished my bachelor's degree. I have been playing the guitar and singing since on stages since the age of 8. I am also a lyricist and composer and front my band.

The first mistake everyone makes is playing fast. When you learn something by playing fast you will make mistakes and your muscle memory will learn it making it very hard to unlearn the mistakes. So I'll start with teaching chords and make my students strum along famous numbers. This will get a good sense of timing into them and the student will enable the students to understand the concept of learning at slow tempos in order to end up learning something very quick.
