As a teacher, I focus on my students’ needs and expectations; to succeed in this purpose, I analyze their learning styles, strengths, weaknesses, learning interests, and preferences. Having this information in mind, I spend time creating a stimulating educational environment to facilitate their academic growth and help them reach their full potential. I always invite my students to share their ideas and take risks in their learning process. I believe that there are some essential elements that are conducive to learning a foreign language: • The teacher's role is to act as a guide. • Teaching a language should provide opportunities to develop intercultural awareness and international mindedness through the exploration of other cultural perspectives. • Instruction needs to align with course aims, goals, syllabus, learning outcomes, and organization. • Technology needs to be integrated; it should include online language-learning platforms and educational apps into lessons to enhance engagement to supplement classroom instruction and encourage self-paced language acquisition. • Learners’ access to content is key, it needs to meet their needs with well-designed or selected resources for the right level. • Preparation for assessment needs to correspond to the needs of the course; it must be valid, reliable, and authentic and provide the basis for decision making. • Individualized learning plans for students with special needs, adapting instructional strategies accordingly for optimal progress. • Learners’ access to meaningful and authentic learning experiences is essential, it needs to be challenged to think critically and/or support through inclusive strategies. • Research skills development by giving instruction on research concepts, demonstrations, critical thinking development, and digital literacies. Finally, professional development experiences are a priority to me, and I hope to continue taking courses to enhance my teaching practices. I hold myself to the same standards that I hold my students. This means that I strive to be a skilled thinker and learner, and I believe that this is a lifelong goal.
