As a trained Hindustani Classical Vocal teacher with years of dedicated practice, I offer a calm, encouraging, and structured learning environment where students can grow in skill and confidence. I follow a traditional yet student-centered approach in teaching Hindustani Classical Vocal. My method emphasizes both technical mastery and emotional connection to the music. I begin with voice culture—breathing techniques, posture, and vocal exercises—to develop a strong and tuneful voice.
Lessons are built around raga-based instruction, which includes learning the swaras (notes), alankars (patterns), and eventually moving on to bandishes (compositions), taans (fast passages), and improvisation. I give special attention to sur (pitch accuracy), laya (rhythm), and bhava (expression).
To deepen understanding, I incorporate listening sessions of recordings by legendary artists. I also use call-and-response techniques to train the ear and voice simultaneously. My method is progressive: starting from basic sargam and moving toward complex ragas and improvisational forms like alap, bol-alap, and sargam-taan.
