About Israel
Since secondary school when I did the UKMT maths challenges and read books such as Ian Stewart's 'The Great Mathematical Problems', it became clear to me that maths was not just something I was good at but also a subject that I really enjoyed studying. My vision is to pursue a career in academia and to inspire young people to do the same. This is why for 3 summers between the ages of 16 and 18 I taught maths to children preparing for the 11+ exams at a local summer school (the vast majority of whom passed) and throughout my time at the University of Cambridge I was heavily involved in access schemes and mentoring prospective applicants. This is also why after graduating in the summer of 2021, I have decided to take a year out to tutor before doing my masters.
You may not be interested in pursuing an academic career in maths but I strongly believe developing an appreciation for maths (something that can be taught) goes hand in hand with becoming better at it and this is exactly what I am offering.
