I've been with music all my life. From the piano to the church organ, from the trumpet to the guitar - to being a member of The National Youth Choir of Great Britain for 10 years, and going on to make recordings for the BBC. And then, of course, back to the piano.

About the class

If you choose to take lessons from me, here is what I like to focus on with my students: 1. Piano proficiency. (being able to play whatever you want to play and how you want to play it) 2. Not just engaging with the techniques of what makes a "good" pianist, but also engaging with the theoretical side of what is going on harmonically in whatever it is you're playing. This will no doubt help your growth as a performer, but it will also bring about a sense of confidence, ease and fluency to your playing. 3. Having conversations about different practice methods and finding the best one for you. 4. HEALTHY PRACTICING! A few years ago I developed tennis elbow through overworking myself at the piano, so I unfortunately know the pains that one can develop through over-playing and over-practicing (yes - there is such thing as over-practicing!!) It is my role and responsibility as a teacher therefore, to make sure all my students practice in a healthy way, and think of their development at the piano in terms of the big picture.
