About Annika
Hi! I'm Annika, a math tutor originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but attending college in Claremont, California (I'm pursuing a degree in mathematics at Harvey Mudd College). I believe everyone is capable of improving their math skills and even coming to enjoy the subject! I love tutoring because it lets me help my tutees further these goals; watching people grow their skills and comfort with math is wonderful.
My tutoring experience is with high schoolers learning algebra and calculus concepts; I've tutored one-on-one and assisted teachers in the classroom. However, I'm happy to tutor most math subjects, from middle school math to early college (calculus). I can also help students prepare for the SAT, especially the math section. In your first lesson with me, we'll talk about your attitudes towards mathematics and what sort of tutoring experience you want, and set goals to work towards together. Then, we'll get to doing math! I believe in learning by doing; I try to give tutees just enough information so they can solve a problem — I think that the more you think for yourself about a solution, the more likely you are to understand and remember the concepts involved. Of course, we'll talk about the solution afterwards. I look forward to working with you, and please let me know if you have any questions.
