About Sophia
Hi, I’m an 18-year-old student at the Australian National University currently studying a double degree in Commerce and Economics. I am passionate about learning and enjoy helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals in a supportive and encouraging environment. Outside of university, I love playing basketball and netball, and through sport, leadership, and work experience I have developed strong communication skills and experience working with a wide range of people and learning styles.
As someone with ADHD, I understand that every student learns differently. Throughout my own education, I have had to develop new strategies and techniques to stay organized, motivated, and perform at a high academic level. This has helped me become patient, adaptable, and creative in the way I teach, and I am passionate about sharing these methods with students to help them gain confidence, improve their understanding, and reach their potential.

I take a hands-on and supportive approach to tutoring, helping students find new ways to understand concepts that may not have been explained clearly in the classroom. I adapt lessons to each student’s learning style by using practical examples, step-by-step explanations, visual techniques, and interactive problem solving to make learning more engaging and easier to understand. Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are suited to primary and secondary students, particularly Years 7–12, including homework help, assignment support, and exam preparation. Through leadership, coaching, and academic experience, I have developed strong communication and mentoring skills that help students build both confidence and independence in their learning.
