About Elijah
I bring both academic training and hands-on experience in traditional and digital art. I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.A. in Immersive Media Design, where I focused on art, 3D design, and animation. I have also worked as a teaching assistant, helping students develop their skills and understand creative and technical concepts.
My experience includes graphite drawing and shading, chalk pastel, acrylic painting, 3D modeling, animation, and motion capture. I understand that every student learns differently, so I create a supportive environment where students can ask questions, experiment, make mistakes, and build confidence in their abilities.
My goal is not only to teach you techniques, but to help you understand why they work and how you can use them to develop your own artistic voice. Whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to improve your animation and 3D skills, I'll meet you at your current level and help you progress from there

Growing up, I was fascinated by drawing, art, and animation. I started drawing when I was very young, and that passion eventually led me to study art and animation and graduate as a top student.
My approach to teaching is centered around creativity, experimentation, and self-expression. I believe art and animation are ways of communicating ideas, emotions, and imagination. Everyone has their own artistic taste and style, and my goal is not to change that style, but to help students discover it and learn the technical skills they need to express it.
In a typical lesson, we will first discuss what you want to create and the skills you want to develop. Depending on your interests and goals, I can teach traditional art techniques including graphite drawing and shading, chalk pastel drawing, acrylic painting, color theory, composition, and character drawing. I also teach digital and 3D art, including 3D modeling and animation in Blender. My lessons combine technical skills with creative freedom, helping you develop your own artistic style rather than simply copying mine.
What sets my teaching apart is my combination of traditional art and modern 3D animation experience. I want students to understand both the artistic and technical sides of creating something—from the first sketch or idea to a finished 3D animation.
My lessons are especially suited for beginners and intermediate students, including high school and college students, aspiring artists and animators, or anyone interested in learning 3D art and animation. You don't need to already be an artist. Bring your ideas and creativity, and I'll help you develop the skills to bring them to life.
