About Esther
I started tutoring immediately after finishing high school with a Dutch institution named 'Studiekring'. I mainly tutored Math, Physics, and Chemistry, but also loved to teach English and Dutch. After that I privately tutored one student for multiple years and helped my study mates when they had some trouble.
The reason I started (and continued) tutoring, is because I love to see the growth in confidence. I believe that every student has the potential to learn an new subject, and am super excited when that happens!

Generally, I follow the books and the structure that the high school uses to prevent any confusion. However, if that method seems to be the problem, then I'll try to find out what works better for the student.
I always start the lesson with checking where the student struggles most, so that we can globally go over it together. After this, I tend to ask questions to make sure that the student gets the idea.
The biggest part of the lesson we will focus on making the assignments. During this part, my goal is to be as minimally involved as possible, since the student won't learn as much if I direct every step. Over time, my goal is to see a shift from working together on assignments to the student working independently with minimal help. 'Cause my ultimate goal is not to continue tutoring, but to see them go, because they've got all the tools necessary to stand on their own.

Perfect! Ik heb nu een maand wiskunde bijles van Esther en ik ben erg positief. We bekijken samen de theorieën en vragen kunnen/mogen altijd gesteld worden. Om vervolgens samen (examen)opdrachten en bijbehorende oefentoetsen te maken van het onderwerp en het ook te bespreken. Esther heeft geduld, kan goed uitleggen en is ook erg enthousiast! Wiskunde is opeens best leuk!
Perfect! Door de Super goede bijlessen van Esther, gaat wiskunde stukken beter van 2 - en en 3- en nu een voldoende. Esther geeft ook goede terugkoppeling wat is gedaan tijdens de huiswerklessen en belangrijk mijn dochter is heel blij met haar en heeft haar zelfvertrouwen om voldoendes te kunnen halen voor wiskunde teruggevonden dankzij Esther!!!
Perfect! Esther has given lessons to all four of our children (4 HAVO en 2&3 VWO). The kids really like her and find the way she explains things really helpful. Esther is always extremely well prepared and sends an overview of what she did with each child / what might need more attention to us afterwards. I would not hesitate to recommend Esther to anyone else looking for help.

Details
Hourly rates are the same for every student and every level of education. However, if I need to prepare for a lesson to make it as valuable as possible, then I'll charge 15,- per hour after your permission.
Travelling costs depend on the distance. My rate for travelling is 12,- per hour.
Cancellation policy:
- The first 3 lessons can be cancelled without any charges until 48 hours before the planned lesson.
- After the third lesson, halve of the regular rate is charged in case of cancellation less than a week in advance.
- In case of an illness, the lesson can always be cancelled for free, but only with a letter from your parents/caretaker.
