About Mukahang
I am a confident and encouraging teacher, and writer. I hope to share the creative solutions I created in my own journey through school and in my own writing. I have been fortunate enough to find much success in writing and I wish to teach the things I myself learned as a student! My work has been published in England: Poems from a School (Picador, 2018), Poetry London, The Sunday Times, The Kindling Journal, Poetry London, and 'Tell Me the Truth About Life', an anthology curated by Cerys Matthews to mark the 25th anniversary of National Poetry Day, where my words are found alongside Simon Armitage, Sharon Olds, Emily Dickinson and many more. I was also commissioned by Amnesty International, 'Words that Burn,' for the 30th anniversary of The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I teach lessons that are personalised to the needs of my students. The way I teach is informed by their abilities, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. At the heart of my praxis is encouragement over criticism, and practice over thought. I aim to find tangible and practical solutions to overcoming problems and barriers that my student might face. Lessons will be maximum 1 hour and half. I have over 2+ years tutoring students in English literature, as well as creative writing, and admissions process, such as personal statements and interview prep. I have recently graduated from the University of Oxford with a 2:1, receiving a 75 in my Shakespeare portfolio, and a 73 in my German modern literature paper. Additionally, I am an award-winning poet, receiving the First Story National competition and winner of the Outspoken prize. I have been longlisted in the National Poetry competition, as well as the Forward Prizes. My debut pamphlet Mother of Flip-Flops (Out-Spoken Press, 2022) was published, which was chosen as the Poetry Book Society's Pamphlet Choice, and reviewed in the Guardian as one of the ‘Best Recent Poetry’. I am also the recipient of an Eric Gregory Award, as well as the prestigious Harper Wood Award. My lessons are for students of all levels, with a special focus on students at GCSE, A level, and University+ levels.
