About Taylor
At a fundamental level, I deeply value learning and knowledge. I grew up in a very rural area and had limited access to education before university. Entering college, I had never taken a chemistry class or knew what a derivative was. Additionally, I am a first-generation college student which also made it tough to navigate college life.
That being said, I developed a passion for education and its opportunities after having the privilege to pursue higher education. I have many professors I look up to who introduced me to new worlds through their passion to share their knowledge. I hope to implement this in all of my lessons and inspire learners, as well.
I have taken both undergraduate and graduate level courses in these two topics, as well as successfully passed a doctoral-level oral examination exemplifying my expertise in the fields. I have read textbooks on these subjects from front to back. My hopes are that I can share my passion for these areas of interest with anyone who is curious or seeking to learn more. I look forward to learning with you!

I offer tutoring in engineering-focused thermodynamics, heat transfer, and related topics. I deeply value knowledge and aim to focus on building a strong foundation of understanding in my approach. I strive to make lessons interactive and hands-on to ensure a deep understanding rather than simply memorizing equations.
My teaching approach focuses on understanding the core fundamentals, and, from there, how they can be derived to represent practical applications like heat exchangers, refrigerators, or heat engines. To acheive this, I like to structure lessons such that we can first openly discuss any unclear areas of understanding. After addressing topics of interest, we can then focus on teachings and explanations of relevant theories pertaining to the topic of interest. Self-testing is one of the most effective ways to learn a topic, so I like to incorporate both guided and un-guided problem-solving after addressing these areas for a given lesson. I prioritize spending time discussing relevant assumptions, derivations, and/or general insights/conclusions drawn from all problems, approaches, and teachings discussed during the lessons.
My lessons are geared toward both undergraduate and graduate students studying thermodynamics and heat transfer, as well as anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of these subjects, whether for exams or personal knowledge.
