About Owen
Who I Am and Why I Want to Teach I’m a languages enthusiast, professional translator, and lover of all things Italian! I’ve spent over a decade working as an Italian translator and have a BA in Modern Languages and a Master’s degree in Translation. I’ve also been lucky enough to live in both Northern and Southern Italy, which gave me a deep appreciation not just for the language, but for the incredible cultural variety across the country. I teach because I genuinely love helping people connect with the language and culture in a way that feels meaningful and fun. Whether it's that first "aha!" moment of understanding or having your first proper conversation in Italian, it’s hugely rewarding to be part of someone’s learning journey. My goal is to make learning Italian feel exciting, approachable, and full of possibility—whatever your reasons for learning.

Learning Italian should feel exciting, enjoyable, and genuinely useful—and that’s exactly what I aim to offer in my lessons. I take a practical, down-to-earth approach that focuses on real-life situations and meaningful conversations. Whether you’re planning a trip, working with Italian clients, studying at university, or just love the language, I’ll help you build confidence and enjoy the process. My lessons are lively, culture-rich, and tailored to you. We’ll cover everything from everyday conversation and travel phrases to grammar, vocabulary, history, and even business Italian—always in a way that feels relevant and engaging. Lessons last 30 to 60 minutes and are open to adults (18+) at any level, from complete beginners to advanced speakers, and class sizes of 1-7 people. I also offer translation services to and from Italian if that’s something you need. With a BA in Modern Languages, a Master’s in Translation, and over 10 years of experience as a professional Italian translator, I bring both expertise and passion to every session. I’ve lived in both the North and South of Italy, so you’ll get plenty of cultural insight and a few fun local expressions along the way too!
