About Maya
As a graduate of CSUN's animation program, my certifications on paper assure of artistic knowledge. However, I believe having a degree does not equate to exertise. In the arts, expertise must be acquired by practice and personal fine tuning. This is especially true for artists as many professional educators see assignments as replacements for actual lessons. One on one mentorship is the best way for artists to learn and grow. I will strive to share all my insight with students on their work.

In a world of free online resources and youtube tutorials, the artist has never been so immersed with opportunity! However, abundance can quickly turn overwhelming. The crossroad of an artists forks like branches of a tree. Climb up the wrong branch and we stun like stuck kittens! Parents and mentors watch from below, shouting to get down and become a doctor already! Unfortunately, artists are stubborn things. Stubborn, but determined.
I see individual potential in each of my students and seek to guide them through the tangled tree. We stick our faces so close to our work we seldom step back to see where it's all going. Buisness? Design? Animation? Character design? Gah! Let me just draw my pictures! Overwhelmed yet? Don't be. In our lessons, we are going to break down who you are, where you're heading, and where you want to go. We are then going to look at your art through this lens and determine what needs to be worked on and elevated. Our work doesn't end on the page! Togther we will look at job descriptions, career pathways, and discover industry secrets.
For younger artists, all that tough stuff can wait! Let's work on the essentials and have some fun!
