About Zofia
I have a polish family, but growing up, I never learnt polish. Frustrated at my inability to communicate with my extended family, I wanted to learn, but found German a more accessible language as an English speaker (my relatives all speak german). I taught myself throughout high school, and went on a language exchange. I can speak quite fluidly, and, from my exchange, speak with an impressive accent naturally. I already have a beginner german student who I help with pronunciation, sentence structure, and conversational skills

I approach my classes as the level the student is at. I think with German, as a highly structural language, it's important to get an understanding of the rules and the to practice applying them in both written and spoken conversation. My aim is primarily to reach a point where the student can communicate their needs, and hold a fluid conversation, understanding what others say to them.

I've been Zofia's friend since we were young. Oboe has always been a part of her life, and I love watching her play. She has a very gentle teaching style, I know from when we study together, and she's happy to slow down or speed up to match your level of understanding. She and her family speak German regularly around the household. Her younger brother is still learning, but she can communicate easily with her mother and she's very patient when speaking with her brother, always helping out.
Having been tutored by Zofia myself, I can vouch to both her character and abilities to be an excellent tutor. Zofia is kind and patient as well as being very well qualified in the role. Her expertise in oboe and practicing of German both in her home and conversing overseas makes her a great tutor.
