About Ari
Hey all! My name is Ari Weiler-Ofek and I tutor mathematics (among other things). I am studying Mathematical Computation at UCL. I completed my A-Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry and got A*A*A*A*. Before that, I did both GCSE Maths and GCSE (L2) Further Maths, achieving 8 and A* respectively. I love mathematics and I am of the belief that it's one of those subjects that nearly everyone can excel in, it's just the way school works that some students end up accumulating gaps and not receiving help. In my teaching, I will typically use kinaesthetic learning and intuition, though of course if a student seems to prefer the logical approach I will typically use that. I prioritise internalising content + understanding over memorisation. I will close all the gaps caused by confusing terminology or lack of detail in class. Will go through past papers if you want me to. Recommend resources and extra readings. My lessons are typically 1 hour long. I have volunteered as a Maths Mentor in my high-school and also ran a Science Week learning activity for Year 7 kids. I have experience teaching Hebrew at synagogue and have worked before as a private Computer Science tutor. I achieved A* in both Maths and Further Maths GCSE. My lessons are aimed at students within the age group 13-16 who are doing their GCSE's / about to start their GCSE's course who are interested in maths or want extra practice. I accept students of all levels and I don't believe in even having this as a requirement, being a student who used to get 5's and 6's in Year 8. Of course I am more than happy to give advice for students interested in studying Mathematics or Further Mathematics A-Level.
