About Jack
Hi, I'm Jack, a first-year Computer Science student at the University of Manchester with a long-standing passion for mathematics. I achieved A* grades in A-Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Computer Science.
Having recently completed my A-Levels, I have a strong and up-to-date understanding of both GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Computer Science. I am familiar not only with the content itself, but also with the exam techniques and common difficulties students face when preparing for assessments.
Alongside my academic background, I have experience helping younger students develop their confidence and understanding. During my later years at school, I tutored Year 7 students, helping them work through mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques. I have also gained extensive one-to-one teaching experience through karate instruction, where I learned how to adapt my explanations to different learning styles and support students in achieving their individual goals.
I believe that anyone can improve at mathematics with the right guidance and approach. My aim is to make lessons engaging, approachable, and tailored to each student, helping them build confidence as well as achieve strong results. Whether you're aiming to improve your grades, prepare for exams, or strengthen your understanding of key topics, I'd be happy to help.
As a current university student, I am closely connected to the school curriculum and understand exactly what is being taught and assessed at GCSE and A-Level, which helps me keep my teaching relevant, efficient, and exam-focused.

My lessons are tailored to each student's needs and goals. Whether you want to learn a topic from scratch, strengthen your understanding of content covered in school or work through past paper questions and exam technique, lessons will be adapted to suit you.
I teach students of all ages and abilities, although my experience and qualifications make my lessons particularly suitable for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Computer Science students. Having achieved an A* in all of my A-levels and now studying Computer Science at university, I understand both the subject content and the exam skills needed to succeed.
Lessons can be any length and can focus on whatever areas you feel need the most attention. We might spend a session learning new content, working through challenging questions, revising for upcoming exams or identifying and addressing weaker topics.
I have previous tutoring experience from mentoring Year 7 students during my later years at school, as well as extensive one-to-one teaching experience through karate instruction. These roles have helped me develop the communication, patience and adaptability needed to explain concepts clearly and build confidence in learners of all abilities.
My aim is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, allowing them to develop both their mathematical understanding and confidence over time.
