About Jassy
I specialise in English Literature and Language and Creative Writing for Children. I graduated with an Upper Class Honours Bachelor's Degree from The University of Winchester in 2008 and then a Master's Degree with Distinction from The University of Winchester in 2011. I began private tuition for English GCSE students in 2013 and have been teaching for nearly 14 years.
I am passionate about helping children to achieve the academic grades that they need to progress towards their chosen career. My most rewarding moments in tutoring have been when students who initially disliked English and were predicted a failing grade by their school, begin to build confidence and enthusiasm for the subject and finally graduate with strong grades.
In my spare time I am currently writing a series of books for children and take my beautiful Border Collie on lots of long forest walks with my family!

Textual and poetry analysis are my specialising areas which feature in both the Language and Literature exam papers. All lessons are geared towards helping students understand how to read texts from an analytical perspective and therefore produce written work which is more in-depth and critically minded.
My passion for the subject enables me to cultivate high student engagement. Each tutorial is tailored specifically to the student's individual requirements and focuses on setting and achieving personal goals which not only builds confidence but also enables them to attain higher grades.
I have a comprehensive understanding of the GCSE English Curriculum and extensive experience in teaching the AQA and Eduqas syllabuses. My include targeted worksheets designed to address specific skills that a student needs to practise, as well as working through past exam papers to learn how to answer the questions comprehensively and within the required time limit.
I have also developed my own creative writing worksheets which encourage students to create the beautiful sensory descriptions, unique character perspectives and exciting story beginnings necessary for attaining a good grade in the creative writing section of Language Paper One.

I can’t recommend Jassy highly enough. She tutored my daughter after she struggled with her English GCSE at school and college - her warm nature and mindful understanding of how to connect with her students had a profound impact. My daughter looked forward to her lessons - even embracing double lessons near the exam - and this was a student who wouldn’t attend lessons her at college and struggled to pay attention in lessons at school.
Ironically we miss her coming round each week and hope lots of new students benefit from her wonderful teaching.
