About Ghous
Hi, I'm Ghous, a Maths tutor based in Birmingham and a visiting lecturer at the University of Chester, where I teach and assess postgraduate students. I hold an MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering with Distinction, and I've been tutoring for several years across GCSE, A-Level and university level.
My approach is calm and structured. I care more about a student understanding why a method works than memorising the steps, because understanding is what holds up under exam pressure. Many of my students arrive feeling stuck or anxious about Maths, and the best part of the job is watching that turn into confidence once things start clicking.

I offer one-to-one Maths and Physics tuition for GCSE, A-Level and university students, online and in person around Birmingham. Every lesson is built around where the student actually is, not where a textbook assumes they should be.
What I cover:
GCSE Maths and Physics, all exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
A-Level Maths, Further Maths and Physics
University Maths and engineering modules for science students
Individual topics: algebra, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, mechanics and logic
How I teach:
I break difficult ideas into small steps, work through plenty of examples, and set focused practice between sessions. I'm patient with mistakes and honest about what still needs work. Lessons are structured but relaxed. Students should feel comfortable asking the "silly" questions, because those are usually the ones that matter most.
Term has just started, which is the best point in the year to build a routine before mock exams in November and December. If your child is starting Year 11 or Year 13, or retaking GCSE Maths this November, putting support in place now makes a real difference by the time the real papers arrive.
Send me a message and we can arrange a free introductory chat to see whether I'm the right fit. No pressure and no commitment, just a friendly conversation.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Sir Ghous is an electrical engineer with a very strong understanding of his subjects. He explains things in a simple way and is very friendly and patient while teaching. He helps in building strong basic concepts. He is a dedicated teacher, and I truly recommend him.
I had the privilege of learning from Professor Ghous and it was honestly one of my top learning experiences. He explains things in a simple and practical way that makes even the harder topics feel doable. He really cares about his students and is always patient, when you ask him a question. You can tell that he genuinely enjoys teaching, and that enthusiasm works as a charm in favour of his students. I’d highly recommend taking his course if you want to truly understand the subject instead of just cramming it. By the end of your term with him, you don’t just learn the material, you actually start appreciating the field.
Ghous is a trustworthy mentor and teacher. I strongly recommend Ghous Ali as an electrical engineering tutor. He explains the difficult concepts clearly, teach with patience, and provide practical examples that make learning easier. Provide a flexible schedule for lessons. A highly effective and reliable tutor.
He is very Cooperative and has strong concepts. Well recommended!
I took lessons from him for my calculus course. He simplified every concept for my understanding, took the time solving the problems I faced while learning and was very supportive throughout the sessions. He took the lessons at my pace and made sure it was fun to learn and that I was not overwhelmed by it. I would recommend him if you are struggling and need someone who makes sure the lessons are engaging and fun.

My standard rate is £30 per hour for GCSE and A-Level Maths, online or in person around Birmingham.
The first lesson is free. It's a chance to talk through where your child is struggling, look at a couple of past questions together, and decide whether I'm the right fit before anyone commits to anything.
Discounted blocks:
5 lessons for £140, which works out at £28 per hour
10 lessons for £270, which works out at £27 per hour
Blocks have no expiry date and can be spread across weeks or used intensively before an exam. Most students see the biggest change when lessons run weekly over a term rather than in a rush the fortnight before a paper.
I use a graphics tablet and shared whiteboard, so online sessions work exactly like sitting side by side with paper, and students get a copy of everything written during the lesson.
In-person lessons are available within roughly five miles of central Birmingham at no extra charge. Further out, I'm happy to travel with a small addition to cover travel time, or we can do it online instead.
Lessons are paid directly to me by bank transfer after each session, or up front for a block.
