About Sahil
My name is Sahil Sood. I am a Further Education Maths Teacher with 7 years of classroom teaching experience in this area.
I can tutor Maths to children and adults at GCSE, Functional Skills including Entry Levels and Pure Maths at A Level.
As part of my experience in Further Education, I have taught GCSE Maths at both Foundation Tier and Higher Tier, Functional Skills Levels 1 and 2 and Entry Levels 2 and 3. I have taught these levels to post-16 students including ESOL students (students whose first language is not English) and adult students. I also have a strong knowledge and understanding of the specification for the above levels from the Pearson Edexcel exam board.
Additionally, I have taught Maths at secondary school including A Level Maths prior to further education.
I hold a BSc degree in Mathematics with Statistics, a PGCE in Further Education and QTLS status.
I have worked with students covering a range of different abilities and backgrounds including students who have come into further education with a grade 3, 2, 1 or below at GCSE or no prior Maths qualifications. I have also taught students who have come from a foreign country and students who have been homeschooled. This also includes students with different learning needs such as those requiring a reader pen and those who have dyslexia or dyscalculia.
Furthermore, I have experience of marking in-class assessments for the above levels and exam papers from the Pearson Edexcel exam board for Entry Levels 2 and 3.

I enjoy making Maths more accessible to students of different abilities and learning styles through breaking methods and questions down. It is also important to me to help students to understand how the concepts and skills that they are learning about can support them in the future.
I am keen to build students’ independence with Maths from initial learning to exam preparation by working towards the stage where the student can explain a concept or tackle an exam question on their own following an initial explanation.
I am also aware of common mistakes and misconceptions in Maths that students can experience and know how to address these to support learning.
