* First assess where the current student is and what they want to achieve from the teaching and mentoring sessions.
* Work out a schedule of at least the next few sessions and regarding specific elements the student wants to learn about. At times a student already knows some concepts they want to review.
* Progress through each element at a comfortable pace making sure that information is assimilated in a good way. Not mixing too many new concepts but progressing step by step evaluating as the student absorbs and responds to the information.
* If the student wants it is always good to work around a little project to incorporate the ideas and approach.
* Depending on the level of the student the pace, detail and progression is adjusted.

* Depending on the specific concept the theory behind the concept is reviewed and explained to the level of detail the student requires and is satisfied by.
* To really understand the concepts the student can work through a couple of exercises on their own, allowing for a healthy balance of struggling with a problem but not getting frustrated.

I have been mentored by Leon for several months, on a regular basis. He has been helping me develop a web app in Laravel and Vue JS with Inertia.
Leon has been a fantastic mentor. His experience as a developper help make good code architecture decisions, but do not hiner his listening abilities.
In my experience, he is also very patient with beginners, and points to useful resrouces to explain deeper theoretical concepts.
I may add that I had been learning alone through Laracasts lessons for about a year previous to starting to work with Leon.
Combined with his ability to work quickly and regularly, I would highly recommend Leon for anyone serious about learning how to code.
