About Maria
I decided to become a tutor as when I was sitting the UCAT I would have really benefitted from having someone who could coach me and help set up a study routine. A big part of succeeding in the UCAT is being confident in yourself; this translates to not second guessing yourself and being able to quickly get through the questions and get your best score. My aim is not only to help you learn the theory but also help you become more confident in yourself. This is a quality that will not only help you in the UCAT, but through your medical school journey!
I am also the first generation of my family to go to medical school so I understand the difficulty of not having the support of someone who was in the same place as you through the process. Remember, no questions are stupid questions and I'm more than happy to answer any, even without booking lessons.

Each UCAT lesson will differ to suit each individual tutee needs. Tutees will get a chance to explain what they are struggling with most before the lesson in order for them to get the most out of each lesson. Each lesson will start with theory of questions and problems, which will build a solid foundation in order to build the speed at which the questions are answered at. Practice questions will be provided during the lesson. If multiple lessons are booked, a plan of how to achieve the best score will be put forward and the tutee will be given material to complete between the lessons.
As a medical student with a BSc (Hons) Medical Science and BSc (Hons) Open degree, I am more than happy to book lessons explaining university applications, check over and aid in writing personal statements and helping with interview preparations. I can also talk about my experience and answer any questions or uncertainties about university and medical school life.
I have also previously worked in an NHS biochemistry laboratory so I am happy to provide any references needed for NHS jobs or university applications.

My UCAT score in 2021 was 2750 . While I achieved way above average in each section, my strongest sections were decision making and quantitive reasoning, followed by abstract reasoning.
