About Christian
I am a French native speaker who has been living in the UK for twenty-five years. Holding a French degree in English and a diploma in translation, I first worked as a translator. Soon after, concurrently, I started working as a part-time French private tutor and adult education teacher. My qualification in this respect is a certificate of education (certed). For the past twenty years, I have switched to teaching French as my main occupation. This is a profession that I greatly enjoy for the pleasant social interactions that it offers me and my love of languages. Speaking French and English fluently and having a decent level in Portuguese and Spanish, I am well aware of the challenges faced by students learning a new language

I have a lot of experience in teaching adults in evening classes and tutoring of adults and children on a one-to-one basis. Getting great pleasure from this occupation, I am always eager to explore new methods and activities to make my teaching as effective as possible and help the students realise their full potential. For the adult courses, at beginner or near-beginner levels, the material is first introduced in the shape of dialogues presented with the help of pictures. This is followed by a whole series of activities that include questions and answers, pattern-and-vocabulary-repeating exercises, role-plays and oral comprehension tests to help the student assimilate the contents of the dialogues. For higher levels, to improve and maintain fluency in French, all aspects of language are systematically practised, especially oral skills, using modern material including news podcasts, newspaper articles, comic strips and other types of reading materials. For school children, after they have been assessed, the lessons will be tailored to bring them up to the level required by their schools or prepare them for the exams they will take in the future. The typical length of a lesson is one hour

Perfect! I have had only one lesson with Christian so far but I am already looking forward to my next lesson. Christian was well-prepared and had organised some teaching material. He was patient, helpful and good-humoured .
Perfect! Christian is the ideal teacher - experienced, patient, organised, professional, pleasant to work with. So glad I found him. Have worked both face to face and online - both types of lesson went very well. My needs are a bit complex - coming in not as a beginner but as an adult 'returner' who already knows some basics, but has forgotten an awful lot - he has handled this really well. I feel I'm making good progress already.

Christian has been my French totor for 1,5 years. I can give Christian nothing but my absolute best recommendations. He is very flexible, helpful, intelligent and funny. We always have very interesting conversations, and by that I learn French in a natural way of speaking. Christian both give grammatically and conversational tutoring. However, I prefer to learn by having conversations, hence this has become the way Christian is having lessons with me. My french skills have improved a lot by the help from Christian. SiljeLearning a foreign language was quite far out of my comfort zone but Christian is so patient that he really put me at ease. We took each lesson at a pace I was happy with and my confidence and ability has really improved. His knowledge of language is amazing and he has a wide variety of course content to suit all levels.
I have been using Christian for one-to-one French lessons for a number of years both in person and by video. Christian is an excellent teacher who puts a lot of effort into each session. Lessons can be tailored to meet what you want to work on and typically we spend 40 minutes on conversational French and 20 minutes on grammar. I would recommend Christian without hesitation.
I have known Christian for about 20 years. At first I was a member of his French conversation class but for the last 12 years or more he has given me a weekly one-on-one class. He is an extremely effective teacher and tutor, he can make the subject interesting with patience and good humour and I recommend him most highly.
