About Marija
My name is Marija Jovicic, and I am a dedicated fourth-year biomedical engineering student at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) and personal tutor, committed to advancing my knowledge, gaining practical experience within my passion for mathematics and engineering, and helping other students not only learn math with ease but love math just like myself! Throughout my academic journey, I have maintained high standards for myself, with academic excellence serving as a primary motivator. I maintained a 92+% average for each year in high school and successfully finished 12 years of French immersion, making me trilingual with English, French and Serbian. Moreover, I currently have a standing 3.5 cumulative GPA, along with obtaining the Dean's awards issued by TMU from 2021-2025.

Unlike the conventional student, my unique trait lies in my genuine passion for continuous learning, and teaching others which not only sustains my motivation in parallel with my heavy schedule but also fuels my pursuit of ambitious long-term goals as a tutor that I aspire to achieve in the future. Throughout my academic career math has always been my strength, which is one of the primary reasons why I decided to continue my post-secondary studies in the field of engineering. Throughout my first three years of university, I held private lessons for calculus during the semester, helping out peers from my engineering field. My method of teaching uses visuals and many logical examples that help students learn concepts through a simple lens and make connections to real-life applications. By doing so, I create a fun and simple learning experience for students, where mathematics is no longer a fear.
I can confidently say that even the most demanding courses that I have taken in my academic career become purely enjoyable when taught properly. It is this belief in the power of proper instruction that drives my enthusiasm for teaching and helping others succeed academically. With that being said, as an educator, I understand that being a confident and straightforward teacher is essential for students to thrive and achieve their full potential. I am committed to instilling this same confidence in my students and helping them develop a deep appreciation for mathematics. I believe that my academic achievements, strong communication skills, and dedication to student learning make me a capable candidate for this role as your tutor! That being said, I offer private lessons for all mathematics and physics grades 9-12 and first year university calculus I and II. As for science, I also offer high school and first year level biology, anatomy and physiology lessons. Finally, I also offer language lessons for French and English reading and writing of all levels.
