About Rachel
I have been teaching flute and descant recorder since 2019, and have experience entering and preparing students for school music exams, Trinity digital and face-to-face exams, eisteddfods and small concerts. I am very passionate about the learning process, and how vastly different that can look for each individual student. I am also enthusiastic about continual learning, and enjoy branching out my own knowledge of teaching and music through regular research, courses and practice.
I currently hold a DipABRSM Flute Performance diploma, as well as an ATCL Instrumental Teaching diploma. I am a Unisa accredited music teacher and am a member of the South African Society of Music Teachers.

Each lesson is designed to suit the student's individual needs, whether that is preparing for a practical exam or eisteddfod, or learning the flute version of the latest pop song. From absolute beginner to advanced, all levels of playing ability are acceptable.
Typical flute lessons range from 30 to 60 minutes, including repertoire work, flute technique and music skills, technical exercises, duets and creative activites, as well as theory (if the student so desires)
Lessons are conducted in English, but Afrikaans students are very much welcome!
