About George
I am a maths student at the University of York who has always had a passion and a will to help others around me and make maths as accessible as possible to all of my peers and fellow students. I can work both face-to-face in York and online using shared whiteboards to try and help as much as possible. I've had experience teaching all ages from 11-18 (Year 7 to year 13) at all levels in conjunction with work covered in class. I achieved grade 9s at GCSE maths and further maths.
I attended De Lisle College, Loughborough for both my GCSE and A-level qualifications.
I achieved one grade 7 in GCSE English Literature, eight grade 8s in the following:
- Combined Science
- French
- PE
- Computer Science
- English Language
- RE
And two grade 9s in Maths and Further Maths.
I sat A-levels in:
Edexcel Maths [A*]
OCR MEI Further Maths [A*] consisting of;
- Mechanics Minor
- Statistics Minor

OCR A Chemistry [A].
I achieved A* in both A-level Maths and Further Maths with a 283/300 score in Maths and a perfect 130/144 in Further Maths Pure paper. . I achieved the Gold Award with a score of 96/100 (answered 24 out of 25 questions and got all 24 answered questions correct) in the 2021 UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge, the highest score of any sixth former at my school by over 20 marks, and the only student to receive the Gold Award in my school. This qualified me for the Kangaroo Paper, which I earned a certificate of merit in. I have tutored a Year 9 student to a silver award in the Junior Mathematical Olympiad.

I have experience tutoring both GCSE and A-Level maths (11-18 years old) having tutored a fellow A-level student from a D to a B whilst sitting my own A-levels.
Teaching style is tailored to the student and lessons involve examples of concepts that I will talk through first. This will generally be followed by examples that the student can attempt on their own or with some help if need be. I prefer to allow the student to take the lead on what content should be covered, as I prefer to work as a back-up to what is already being taught in the classroom. Lessons will be 1 hour in duration.
