About Caitlin
Hi I'm Caitlin and I'm a first year undergraduate studying Mathematics. I took a gap year before starting my studies and in that year spent time in the British International School in Tokyo tutoring GCSE students in Maths and Science. But my passion for tutoring started before then when I worked in Kumon study centres teaching children from the ages of 5 to 16 Maths and English. I have a lot of experience in teaching through these ages but I have also helped my friends in A Level Maths and Further Maths. I love Maths because of its logical nature and the rewarding feeling you get when you work through each step of the solution and get the correct answer. It's this feeling that I want you to experience too! My teaching style is very much tailored to you and what you want from the sessions. Although my tutorials are focused and I will get you to do a lot of the work (the only way to learn!) I am also friendly and patient- Maths can be challenging but I believe it really is the most rewarding subject!

When we first meet I will ask you what you want from our lessons; is it exam structure? Problem areas? Past paper questions? I often find that working through past papers or exam style questions is the best way to grasp the methods involved in GCSE Mathematics.
When we have decided the content of our lessons you can send me questions that you're struggling with to work through in the next lesson or I can prepare questions on target topics.
In my lessons I want you to do the Maths! I will prompt you in the right direction or I can go through all of the theory with you if needed but the only way to learn Maths is if you do it too!
