About Girish
I am a FIDE-rated chess player with several years of serious study and practice in the game. My current ratings are around 1446+ in online rapid chess, and I actively work on improving my understanding of strategy, tactics, and endgames through structured training and analysis.
Chess has taught me the value of clear thinking, patience, and disciplined practice.
Through my own learning journey, I realized that many players struggle not because they lack talent, but because they do not have a clear training method or thinking process.
This is something I aim to solve through my teaching.
I focus on helping students build strong chess fundamentals—understanding positions, calculating variations, and forming practical plans during a game.
My approach is simple: instead of memorizing moves, students learn how to think like a chess player.
Along with playing and studying chess regularly, I enjoy analyzing master games and exploring classical chess books to deepen my understanding of the game.
My goal as a teacher is to guide students toward steady improvement while keeping the learning process structured, and simple.

My Teaching Methods
My teaching approach focuses on building strong chess fundamentals through structured practice and clear thinking methods. Instead of memorizing moves, students learn how to think during a game—how to evaluate positions, calculate variations, and create practical plans.
I emphasize three core skills:
1. Tactical Visions – recognizing patterns and calculating forcing moves
2. Positional understanding – learning how pawn structures and piece activity guide plans
3. Endgame fundamentals – One of the most important parts of the game is the endgame. Lessons to master essential endgames that decide many games
The goal is to help students develop independent thinking at the board, so they can make good decisions even in unfamiliar positions.
Structure of a Typical Lesson
A typical lesson is organized in a simple and effective way:
1. Game Review – We analyze one of the student’s recent games to identify mistakes and missed ideas.
2. Concept Study – Learn a key chess concept (tactical pattern, strategic idea, or endgame technique).
3. Guided Practice – Solve practical positions together to apply the concept.
4. Thinking Process Training – Practice a structured method for calculating moves and evaluating positions. Most of the training is about refining the thinking process.
Students also receive recommended exercises to practice between lessons.
What Makes My Teaching Different
- Focus on practical improvement, not memorization
- Emphasis on calculation and structured thinking
- Lessons based on real game situations
- Clear explanations suitable for beginners and improving players
I aim to create a calm and supportive learning environment where students can ask questions freely and build confidence in their decision-making.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are suitable for:
- School students who want to learn chess in a structured way
- College students and adults interested in improving their game
Beginners and club players who want to develop solid fundamentals
Players who want to improve their thinking process and practical playing strength
Whether your goal is to learn chess from the beginning or improve your tournament performance, the lessons will be adapted to your current level and learning pace.
