About Jovanni
I have been playing the violin since I was four years old, and it has been an important part of my life ever since. Over the years, I have performed in a range of orchestras and taken part in live performances and productions, which has given me valuable experience both individually and as part of a group.
After achieving Grade 7 ABRSM, I took a short break from the violin to focus on my studies, as I had started to lose my enjoyment of the instrument. However, everything changed when I began helping a younger family member learn the violin. Teaching reignited my passion and reminded me why I fell in love with music in the first place.
I realised that part of my earlier frustration came from feeling limited to sheet music. What changed everything for me was the ability to play by ear — a skill I developed from a young age. Without that foundation, I wouldn’t have been able to pick up and play the pieces I actually enjoyed. That freedom brought back my creativity and love for the violin.
This is something I now bring into my teaching. I aim to help young learners not only build strong technical foundations but also develop their listening skills, so they are not just dependent on sheet music. My goal is for students to enjoy their instrument, feel confident exploring music they love, and grow into expressive, independent musicians.

I teach violin using the Suzuki method, as this is how I learnt, but I stay flexible to suit each child’s needs and learning style. My focus is to make lessons enjoyable, structured, and confidence-building from the very start.
In the first few lessons, I help children become comfortable holding the violin, understanding posture, and producing a clear sound before moving on to simple pieces. I place strong emphasis on developing listening skills and learning to play by ear, which builds musical intuition alongside technique.
Lessons are typically 30 to 60 minutes depending on age and attention span. I teach beginner children, creating a supportive and patient environment where they can progress at their own pace.
With over 10 years of violin experience and having reached Grade 7 ABRSM, I understand the learning journey and how to guide young students through it effectively.
