About Mark
My name is Mark Lavoie, I've taught violin for over 15 years. I work with students of all ages and levels, from beginning lessons for children and adults in both fiddle and classical music, to conservatory student lessons. I enjoy helping my students reach their highest potential in the violin, as well as have fun learning to play and perform with others.
My teaching methods include:
-- Repertoire work at all levels, from Suzuki to Paganini.
-- Intensive technique and musicality work. (Galamian, Perlman, and Zukerman methods.)
-- Ear training and music theory.
-- Performance, competition, audition, and recording preparation.
-- Studio recital performances (several times per year)

I also work with students preparing for orchestral auditions, as I was a 6-year student of Mr. Glenn Dicterow, the concertmaster of the N.Y. Philharmonic, and have worked as concertmaster with conductors such as Maestro Lorin Maazel, and Maestro James Conlon.
