About Jen
I have 2 degrees in Music and Muisc Education. I have taught school band for 20 years. Much of my career, I have started beginners in a setting with a mixture of instruments in one room. Students learn to read music, care for their instrument and understand all the aspects of performance success. The most rewarding part is seeing students start at the beginning and grow a love of playing an instrument, build self confidence and success of their work paying off.
I really enjoy working with musicians at the beginning of their musical journey. This is where I have the most experience; first, second, and third year players. Beginners have so much enthusiasm and I love watching them light up when they make progress. I am also passionate about higher level clarinet performance and would like to help others in this area.
My first job was part time 7-12 band at a very small school, then moved to a larger 7-9 school the following year. I stayed here until I left Canada, 5 years later. At this job, I made friends for life, toured with my groups, competed, and tried my best to create a love for music and lasting relationships with students.
I have taught in public school for 20 years. I know where students run into problems and have experience to help them through obstacles.
