About Addie
Adelaide's Sewing offers lessons for the very beginner (I've never used a machine) to the more advanced student (let's talk about different types of interfacings!).
The beginner's class is always priced at $20 to see if this is an area where you would like to further your craft. I provide everything you need including a machine.
I have been teaching for 9 years out of my house and have loved every second of it. I have a passion for opening up the amazing world of sewing to people who didn't think they could even get their machine working.

I LOVE when students have walked in my door not having the confidence in sewing and walking out with a smile! It's always wonderful when the light bulb goes off in someone's head because it finally makes sense.
I started teaching friends and family and realized I had a propensity for it.
I've been sewing since I was 6 and teaching for the last 9 years. In my college years I was featured in a few local fashion shows around the Charleston area. I have also won 1st place in the Wake Forest Minicon group costume competition.

I guage where you are with a machine. If you sign up for the intro course, we cover the very very basics so you feel confident sitting on your, or my, machine.
Just about all types of people from the ages of 8 and up.
Look for someone who is patient. A lot of people have come to be because the previous sewing teacher they had didn't have the patience to help them work through whatever was going wrong. Patience is key in teaching sewing, as well as, learning it.
My family and are are huge nerds! We love dressing up and going to different conventions. My husband and I have two wonderful little boys who think wearing costumes is just as normal as their every day clothes!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask the teacher why the teach. There needs to be a passion behind what the teacher is doing in order for others to learn well.
