About Marianne

I have 2+ years of tutoring experience and I began my career with algebra, and calculus, and chemistry.I am currently studying at UCLA as a Psychology major. I have been lucky and pleased to teach students that are anywhere between 7 and 21 years old. My college experience began at Santa Monica College. In the beginning, I took many math and science classes including Calculus, General, and Organic chemistry and I excelled in all of them which motivated me to become a tutor at SMC. Additionally, I was raised in Iran, therefore, I am a native Farsi speaker, and spent the last year of my education at SMC as a Farsi TA. I am also capable of tutoring General, Developmental, and Personality Psychology since it is my passion and major after all. Outside of school, I have had private students and I helped many of them to get prepared for their standard chemistry and math and exams. I am capable of tutoring younger students and college level students in classrooms and one-on-one settings.

As a student tutor, I know what students struggle with, and I do my best to keep my knowledge up to date. I am always prepared and comfortable with the material that I teach. I use a different teaching method for each student. As a tutor, I understand that it is my responsibility to guide students through problems, but at the same time build their confidence and teach them to think critically.

I patiently and passionately share different thinking styles, study tips, and my own experiences with my students on how to overcome stress and anxiety. Connecting with my students and helping them to develop a growth mindset is extremely important to me. My philosophy is to study smart, not hard!
