About Akshithaa

This is a fun learning platform for kids from K-6th Grade. My policy is that learning should not be stressful, it should be enjoyable and admired by students. For anyone who is struggling with their grades, Step by Step math can be of a lot of help. I am a math lover myself, and I wish to share my knowledge with anyone who wants to learn.

I enjoy working with kids and helping them learn! In the end, they should be able to excell at school and enjoy learning with me in class.

I started teaching when I was 8 years old. I was a particularily excelling student in academics, so my elementary school had asked me to help some of my classmates. Since then, I've been teaching. Now, I'm in High School, and I still tutor. I had always been tutoring one-on-one, the students would come to me. But now, I think that online tutoring is a better way to tutor students who live far from where I live.

I have babysat and tutored one-on-one in the past few years. Helping kids has always been a passion of mine and I really enjoy stooping down to their level in a playful manner.

First, I usually get to know them and their interested style of learning. I don't give too much work on the first class. I always think that approaching a student in a friendly manner will help them be less hesitant or scared of a teacher.

I've worked with Elementary and Middle School students.

I would say, always look for someone who is young and near your generation, because the methods that schools follow now aren't always the same as methods that schools followed in the days that the adults these days, were in school. And as a student, you would want help in the areas that your teacher has taught you.

A recent event was at my apartments. I had put up my tutoring posters on the notice board. Some parents who had noticed it sent their kids for a free trial class. I had never taught a group class before, but this time, it was new. I realized that it was very easy to teach a group of kids if you find their common interest and teach using those interests. For example, for these kids, it was soccer. It was easy teaching them division by drawing a soccer field and using parts of it to show them how to divide.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- Students should come up with a list of what they have learned in school for the past year. This gives me an idea of what I should help them with or teach them next.

- Students don't need to be formal or call me Ms or Maam at all. They can converse with me just as they would with anyone in their family, if parents are comfortable with that.

- Anytime a parent needs to talk to me, or attend class with the student, feel free to do so. Just remember not to help your child as they work in class because that's where I need to do my job as a good tutor. :)

Yes, I do have a pricing system. I want to make sure that tutoring is affordable and not outrageously costly.

I charge $15/per hour.

I never want to overwhelm kids, so I would suggest taking one hour classes 1-2 times a week.
