About Emily

Hi there! I graduated from Goucher College in 2017 with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I am a former FCPS 5th grade teacher and current MCPS substitute teacher working on my Master's degree through McDaniel College. I know a lot of students struggle with math, so I am here to help your child achieve their goals while also making learning fun.

2017- Graduated from Goucher College with a Bachelor's in elementary education

2018- Received my state certification for elementary education, started with Frederick County Public Schools as a 5th-grade teacher

2019- Left job at FCPS, began substitute teaching with MCPS, began studying at McDaniel College for my Master's degree in curriculum and instruction

I will start our very first session by getting to know the child. We can spend a few minutes talking about what they like about school and what they don't like (so I can help change that!). I would also like to know what they enjoy doing outside of school. I believe that incorporating a child's personal interests into math scenarios as often as possible will make it more fun and relatable!

I really enjoy substitute teaching. I think it gives a newer teacher like me the opportunity to see what grade I would like to teach full time once I complete my degree. Meeting students and teachers from every grade level at several different schools in the area also makes me feel more connected to my community.
