About Kristen
As someone who struggled with school anxiety as a child, I have extreme compassion for the student that has difficulty in school and is willing to accept help. Math can be extremely challenging and students do not always feel comfortable asking for help in a classroom setting. Having someone to break something down a different way or an additional time can be an amazing resource.
I've always had a passion for education and it only grew as I studied Mathematics in college. I saw how people can struggle with it but can also overcome that struggle and develop amazing problem solving skills.
I enjoy connecting with people both through education and mathematics.
Went to college for Mathematics and Secondary Education and Administration.

I usually ask some questions to see if the material is the issue or if it is a skills issue. Sometimes skills that don't carry from one year to the next can cause struggles in a current subject area. I also find out the type of learner that the student is (visual, auditory, or hands on). Sometimes learning something from a different approach can lead to success. Getting to know the student before diving into tutoring definitely shows the most success.
Have worked with students in varying ability from 6th grade through college. Have experience with students will abilities such as ADD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
