About Jan
Jan Lamontagne began her riding career at the age of two, and it was from that tender young age that she fell in love with the sport. Jan embodies the philosophy of establishing a connection with the horse and working in partnership with the animal. She views each horse as a partner in the relationship, and trains to be able to bring out the absolute best in not only the rider, but also the Horse.
She has a core philosophy of working on the pyramid of training beginning with rhythm , relaxation, connection, impulsion, to achieve straightness, and ultimately collection. It is through increasing thoroughness and obedience that physical development and a progressive connection can be maintained.
Jan considers herself a professional student, continuing to invest her time and resources to train with some of the best trainers available which has led to her great levels with in the country. This continued dedication assisted her in achieving in taking her horse Rising Star to Grand Prix levels, and it was with Rising Stars competitive retirement due to age, Jan is now starting the process all over again with Kentucky at the tender age of 6.
With her vast experience and commitment to the equine industry, Serendipity Performance Horses offers private lessons, group lessons, and leasing options on Jan’s own personal horses for students of all levels. For those who already own a horse, she offers board and full training to assist the rider and horse partnership in reaching their goals.
Jan focuses heavily on positive reinforcement for both students and horses, recognizing as a lifetime student herself, the need to have a fun and engaging environment to continue progressing in the learning process.

My horse and I absolutely love love Jan . The barn is amazing lots of turnout for the horses and a beautiful arena . I feel so so comfortable leaving my special boy there while traveling. I am new to horses and have learned so much from Jan she is a great patient instructor. Would highly recommend
Jan is an awesome trainer that supports you in continuing the growth of the partnership between you and your horse in a holistic way.
