About Michael

I am a teacher and writer from Britain who lives in Japan. I have been teaching English to Japanese students for 15 years and therefore have a very good understanding of the kind of help that such students need, their weak points and how to improve them. I teach with a mixture of techniques, and make the lessons both enjoyable and useful.

Before that I taught sociology, psychology and history in Britain. I have a Sociology and Psychology degree from Glasgow Caledonian University, a Masters degree from the University of Edinburgh, and a PGCE (a certificate in education which qualifies me to teach in colleges) from the Institute of Education, University College London.

I am also a writer, I have had more than 40 books published with a variety of publishers.

I started teaching in the year 2000 after qualifying from the Institute of Education, University of London.

Someone you get on with, who understands your needs and can be both patient, kind and helpful.

Seeing a cute baby frog grow up and leave the water for the first time.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Why do I want to learn this, what will it do for me, and how can this teacher help me?
