About Andrea

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in English Literature, and have taught writing at the college level. I worked years as a paralegal researching, creating, editing and proofing documents. I have been retired for 6 years, and have primarily worked as a volunteer during this time. I thoroughly enjoyed my teaching experience at the college level, but I relate to students of all ages. The students I taught were needing assistance with the writing required of English 101, particularly term paper writing and research.

The first thing I told my students was always, "If you can talk, you can write." Most of these students had a very poor opinion of their abilities and had often felt shame. Once they realized that with a little help and some "tricks of the trade" they could indeed become proficient writers. Their growth in confidence and self-esteem was immensely satisfying to me.

B.S. in English Literatue; coursework in writing instruction, English Literature and education; specific teaching experience in writing and researching; years of writing and research experience in the paralegal field.

Ask questions and LISTEN!  Find out what their concerns are and how they perceive their strengths and weaknesses. Then work with them on an individual needs basis.  I don't believe in "cookie cutter" teaching.
