I had Ms. Dowling for a total of three classes throughout high school. I got 5s in both of the AP courses I took with her, AP Art History and AP English Language and Composition. She takes the time to get to know all of her students, values them as individuals, and helps them in the areas that are most useful to them. She puts so much thought into her teaching and is open about her thought processes, creating a genuinely supportive environment.

We hired Ms. Downling for AP Language Arts after my son ended up with a "D" in the class during the 3rd quarter of the school year. My son only gets poor grades when he fails to turn in assignments and is also very resistant to any type of outside help. She kept him on track with his assignments for the remainder of the school year, and he ended up with a "B" for the semester. He only got a 2 on the AP exam, but he's more of a math/science kid, and I was not surprised by the 2 particularly since the omitted the multiple-choice portion this year (because of COVID). I would hire her again in a heartbeat!
