About Bhavani

Hi!

My name is Bhavani and I am currently working as a Paraeducator for an SF based middle school.

For the past five years, I have worked with middle school, high school, and college students in college access non-profit organizations and school settings.

I hold a B.A. in Anthropology and Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley and will be pursuing a Masters in Higher Education from the University of Michigan in the Fall.

I am passionate about teaching and education -- especially at a time like this -- and would love to support your student.

I hope to hear from you soon!

I am passionate about educational equity and hold an inclusionary lens with all of my students. I enjoy seeing students empowered in their education and aim for my students to not only grow academically, but also see how their learning gives them agency.

I began teaching as a high schooler, when I tutored students who were missing school due to health reasons.

I aim to make sure my student feels comfortable and safe working with me. In my past experiences, students have sometimes been resistant to the idea of a tutor or one on one support due to the common misbelief of why a tutor may be necessary. I like to work through this and then move into subject material.

I have worked with students who have diverse learning needs and who are often the first ones in their family to attend college.
