About Brooke
As a full-time student pursuing a Ph.D. in Philosophy I am well acquainted with the importance of a productive academic experience. Though my students' academic experience is key in knowing what material to focus on during sessions, I spend a great deal of time understanding my students' learning style to create an academic environment and plan that maximizes productivity and learning. I strongly believe that a tutoring session can go over the right material but, if it does not suit the student's learning style, the session will be ineffective.
I have worked with many different types of students and love finding the style of tutoring session that best suits the individual student's needs. Too often I find that classes are taught with only one type of student's learning style in mind. I accommodate for this deficit by ensuring my students are in an environment that teaches material according to their individual needs and learning preferences.
I am currently an undergraduate Honors Philosophy student in my third year. Throughout my collegiate experience, I have completed 180+ research writing projects in my field and have achieved a 4.0 GPA in 9 graduate courses maintaining a 3.9 overall. I have worked as a tutor in person for 4 years working with undergraduate students in the liberal arts and high school students.

Connecting with new students is one of the most exciting parts of tutoring. There are three questions that I ask my new students that help me understand how to create a learning environment best suited to their needs.
1. What is the field(s) of study that you would like to focus on in our sessions?
2. How much experience do you have with the subject(s)?
3. What do you find to be the most productive study environment?
Understanding what subject my students would most need help with and how long they have studied that subject is key in building a structured approach to our sessions. Knowing my students' preferred study environment allows me to create a productive space for them and a plan best suited to their style. These questions allow me to create a streamlined and productive session that allows my students to get the most out of their time.

I hired Brooke to help my 12 year old son finish all of his school work over the summer so that he wouldn't be held back a year. Brooke was absolutely everything I needed and more. She was so patient with my son going at his pace as he worked through all of the assignments. She encouraged him every step of the way. Additionally, my son gets extremely frustrated when he can't figure out the work. Brooke would first spend time assuring him of his potential and intelligence. She was extremely good at figuring out why my son couldn't understand a problem and thus was incredible at explaining it his way. By the end of summer, my son completed all of his work with all A's and B's. He was actually excited to start the new year in the fall. We couldn't have done it without Brooke. She is worth ever dime and then some.
