About Julia

I am a current college student at Madonna Univeristy. Currenlty, I am studying to teach language arts at a secondary level, and have completed all of the mandatory courses for my English major. I have received excellent marks in British literature, American literature, African American kiterature, a special studies literature course, and Ethnic American literature. I am willing to help students in any of these courses, and possibly others too, with patience and understanding. Learning to understand and write about literature doesn't have to be so tough!

Beyond my college experience as an English major, I have worked as a paraprofessional. This has equiped me to work with students of all cognitive abilities. Additionally, I have had 90 hours of classroom experience for pre-student teaching, and have substitute taught.

I think it's important to spend a little time when first working with a student getting to know each other. A student will be more comfortable working if there is an established relationship and communication of value. If a student knows that I value their learning and progress the relationship will be more positive and effective. I think it's important to know where a student is in their studies, which often is best communicated by their own explanation. This is also important as how a student communicates what they learn is crucial for language arts.

-Pre-K to 8th grade as a paraprofessional for students with special needs.

-Middle school and high school teaching experience for language arts specifically.
